Privately held investment group

A long-term owner of the companies that build the critical systems of the future.

JS Holdings is a privately held, African-founded group. It owns, builds and operates companies across software, security, data, finance, defence, connectivity and industry, holds each for the long term, and uses the success of one to finance the next. The aim is to help move Africa from a consumer of foreign technology into an owner, designer and exporter of sophisticated systems.

Vision and ambition

To help move Africa from a consumer of foreign technology into an owner, designer and exporter of sophisticated systems.

JS Holdings is a diversified, African-founded group that owns, develops and operates critical systems: software, data, financial infrastructure, security, telecommunications, autonomous systems, defence technology, industrial hardware, real estate and strategic investments. It is built to be an enduring institution, one that creates companies, owns intellectual property, allocates capital, and builds infrastructure for governments, enterprises and entire societies.

01
Own a portfolio of profitable operating companies, and the intellectual property beneath them.
02
Put African governments, enterprises and institutions on systems the group builds and owns.
03
Develop infrastructure rather than resell it, reinvesting each success into the next company.
04
Expand across Africa and into global markets, and build an institution that outlasts its founder.
Strategy

How the group builds value.

A few convictions shape the group: build what Africa imports, own what others rent, and use each success to finance the next.

Build what Africa imports

Capability, not rebranding

The group develops genuine technology, standards and manufacturing knowledge in place of rebadged foreign products.

Own what others rent

Hold the critical layers

Source code, protocols, data, hardware designs and distribution stay inside the group, not on someone else's balance sheet.

Infrastructure, not applications

Build what institutions depend on

The group builds the enduring systems governments and enterprises run on, not disposable software.

Self-financing ambition

Each success funds the next

Early products generate revenue and credibility. That base finances the group's more capital-intensive ambitions, without ceding control.

From the founder
We aim to build more than successful products. We build the intellectual property, the infrastructure and the institutions that increase African technological sovereignty, and that stay relevant for generations. We build for Africa, and from Africa, for the world.

Governance

Wholly owned. Control undivided.

JS Holdings is fully owned by its founder, and stays that way. There are no outside shareholders in the holding company. When a company in the group needs investment, it raises capital in its own name, so investors hold equity in that business rather than in the group, and control of the whole stays in one place.

Ownership
Wholly owned by the founder, in full
Control
Strategy, capital allocation and governance held in one place
Raising capital
Each company raises in its own name. Investors take a stake in that company, not in JS Holdings.
New ventures
Structured as their own companies, in the manner of Africa Data Bank and Stratum Capital
Partnerships
Each cooperation is placed in a new, separate company. JS Holdings itself holds the interest, not the founder personally, and the holding company is never diluted.
Continuity
Each company is governed to operate, and to endure, on its own
